HEAL Data Packaging Guide

The material in this guide is organized into 3 main sections:

  1. The "What is a data package" section provides a general overview of data packages, including what they are, why they're useful, and the general process of creating a data package.
  2. The "Create your data package" section provides a step-by-step tutorial on creating your first data package, with instructions tailored to your own study's situation based on your answers to three simple questions.
  3. The "Prepare your data package for submission" section provides step-by-step instructions on preparing your first data package for submission to a public data repository, with instructions tailored to your own study's situation.

This guide also contains a few additional sections:

  • The "More information about data packaging" section provides some additional, more detailed information about the data packaging process.
  • The "Guidance & Resources" section provides additional guidance on specific topics as well as references to additional resources that may be helpful. Links to specific parts of this sections are provided throughout the first three sections, when appropriate.
  • The "Terms & Concepts" section provides definitions of terms and concepts used throughout this guide. LInks to specific parts of this section are provided throughout the first three sections to clarify concepts and recommendations as they come up.
